Richard has worked in the field of addictions since 1986.  He started his career as a mental health counselor at Danvers State Hospital and continued his experience at Seaborne Hospital followed by South Eastern Services where he  completed an internship at the Anne Marie Connelly Crisis Center, offered counseling at the Out Patient Clinic and Turning Point Halfway House. After ten years of work in the field Richard returned to Graduate School and completed a Masters degree in Counseling from Union University in Brattleboro and internship at HCRS, and was employed by HCRS, WCBH and briefly at Headrest until March 2016. Now he has a solo practice in Norwich and sees clients with substance abuse and mental health disorders. Appointments for counseling are available Tuesday and Thursday. Richards approach is to support each individual along their path in wholeness and balanced lifestyle. The counseling approach is mindfulness based and is informed by meditation and the 12 steps of recovery. A variety of meditation forms can be learned in session and may lead to a reduction in use of substances and decreased social anxiety. Ages 14 and up are welcome as is the whole family.

Richard offers mindfulness based counseling and a variety of meditation skills plus

twelve step facilitation to treat addiction and social anxiety.

Fee for counseling is $70 per hour

Available Tuesday and Thursday

If you prefer insurance Richard accepts BC&BS, Harvard Pilgrim and Cigna.


Insurance not accepted for Assessments ($150) or Evaluations ($350)
